VISION AND MISSION

IDENTITY IS MORE BASIC THAN BRAND.

Today’s greatest challenges are not cultural decay, civil unrest, political polarization, poverty, racism, or human trafficking. As horrid as these things are, they are symptoms of deeper-rooted causes. Meaning, if we are to ever overcome these painful realities, we must address their causes. But where do those roots lie?

Consider: There is the world of reality—the material world, existence, our experiences, objective meaning, that which is. Then there is the world of ideas—where we interpret reality, discover its meaning, and foster beliefs about what is. In the simplest terms, if our beliefs about reality align with reality itself, we have the recipe for flourishing, and to the degree which we misinterpret reality is the degree to which we foster decay, division, and chaos.

That is where the root causes of our social and cultural challenges lie. Not in reality itself, but in the more basic beliefs and worldviews we are using to interpret reality in the first place. Plainly, we lack of clarity about what is real, what is, good, what is true, what is beautiful, and what we are human beings—from which we lack further clarity about human dignity, equality, diversity, potential, and flourishing.

That is why, if we want to foster thriving and humane cultures, we absolutely must examine our worldviews and the views they embody regarding human nature. Only then can we rid ourselves of such things as societal polarization and racism. Only then can we begin cultivating the true, the good, and the beautiful in their place.

And that is what Flume exists to help cultivate.

VISION

Flume sees an increasingly dignified world teeming with the good, true, and beautiful; and a flourishing human race with the clarity and creativity to steward and enjoy it forever.

MISSION

Flume exists to foster clarity in the minds and cultures of global citizens, to illuminate the universal nature and inherent dignity of every human person and the human experience, to diagnose the root causes of societal polarization, and to redemptively cultivate the true, the good, and the beautiful in their place.

Bending that light through a prism, this is to say Flume exists to:

  1. Be a conduit of clarity concerning what is real, true, good, beautiful, and the universally dignified nature of the human person, including a humane and ontologically coherent view of human diversity.

  2. Foster humane discourse in the public square that both honors human variation and seeks clarity and truth above all else.

  3. Fuse and enliven the creative process with a moral imagination in the public square to inspire excellence, beauty, and wonder.

  4. Enliven clarity, unity, understanding, and common grace in the public square by countering today’s divisive and dystopian narratives with a better story.

  5. Counter the narratives of narcissism and nihilism with visions of clarity, meaning, truth, optimism, and hope.

  6. Cultivate peace and redemption by helping resolve, remedy, and restore the vast stories of injustices and dehumanization throughout today’s contemporary world and human history.

  7. Equip and empower global citizens and citizens of the Free World to be good stewards of the freedoms they have, and using them to possess, share, and foster the good, true, and beautiful.

  8. Help hurting individuals, families, and communities find meaning, healing, redemption, and flourishing in and through their suffering.

  9. Help the West and broader world nonviolently heal its many divisions by fostering the natural fusing of the many false dichotomies that have fractured it—internally, horizontally, and vertically.

  10. Provide insightful, organic, and bottoms-up solutions to personal, organizational, social, political, and global challenges.

  11. Foster the capacity in leadership to connect the qualitative, quantitative, communicative, and humane components into their identity, brand, services, and supply chains.

  12. Inspire a humane love for leaning, language, reading, writing, storytelling, the arts, wellness, and cross-cultural experiences.
